Syria, KSB discuss localizing pump, valve manufacturing in Syria

Damascus, July 28 (SANA)    The Ministries of Economy and Industry and Energy met on Tuesday with representatives of Germany‘s KSB, a global leader in pump and valve manufacturing, to discuss establishing a production plant in Syria as part of efforts to attract specialized industrial investment, transfer technology and support national industry.

The delegation included Sven Baumgarten, KSB’s Regional President for the Middle East and Africa, and Ergun Yıldız, CEO of KSB Arab Pumps Limited in Saudi Arabia.

Economy Ministry: Specialized industrial investment

At the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Deputy Minister Bassel Abdel Hannan discussed with the company delegation opportunities to establish a pump production plant in Syria as part of the ministry’s efforts to attract specialized industrial investment and strengthen cooperation and partnerships with global companies, the ministry said on Telegram.

The KSB delegation presented its extensive industrial expertise, noting that the company operates a number of production facilities in the Middle East region, according to the statement.

The delegation expressed interest in entering the Syrian market through an industrial project that contributes to technology and technical expertise transfer, meets local market needs, and has potential for future expansion to external markets.

Abdel Hannan affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing an attractive and supportive investment environment for investors, and offering all necessary facilities to ensure the success of value-added industrial projects, stressing the importance of localizing specialized industries to enhance national production and support economic development.

Energy Ministry: Supporting water sector development

At the Ministry of Energy, Deputy Minister for Water and Electricity Affairs Osama Abu Zeid and Director General of the Euphrates Dam Authority Haitham Bakour discussed with the KSB delegation prospects for cooperation, particularly in localizing pump and valve manufacturing in Syria, the ministry said on Telegram.

The meeting explored opportunities to benefit from KSB’s engineering expertise and modern technologies to support the development of the water sector and enhance the efficiency of national industries.

KSB is one of the world’s three largest manufacturers of pumps, valves and related engineering solutions, headquartered in Frankenthal, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The company supplies advanced products including pumps, valves, digital systems, and maintenance and engineering services, with applications across water, energy and various industrial sectors worldwide.
