Damascus, June 11 (SANA) Syrian Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh met representatives of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to discuss financing for development projects and potential support for the government’s “Syria Without Camps” initiative, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.
The talks, held with a delegation headed by Salah Jelassi, focused on possible IsDB participation in development programs, including projects linked to Syria’s poverty reduction strategy and broader economic recovery efforts.
According to the ministry, the two sides also discussed opportunities for the bank to support public-private partnership projects and contribute to future development initiatives.
Barnieh said the ministry would facilitate meetings between the IsDB delegation and Syrian government institutions and help arrange follow-up visits by technical teams to explore potential areas of cooperation.
The discussions come as Syria seeks to attract international financing for reconstruction and development projects following years of conflict.
In January, Barnieh met IsDB Regional Director Noureddine Mabrouk to discuss expanding cooperation in energy, infrastructure, roads and urban transport projects.
