Istanbul, June 9 (SANA) Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed the Istanbul Declaration during a trilateral meeting of their foreign ministers in Istanbul on Tuesday, reaffirming cooperation in areas including trade, energy, transport, security and regional development.
The declaration was signed by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili following the 10th meeting of the three countries’ foreign ministers.
According to the declaration, the three sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political, economic, cultural and commercial ties, highlighting what they described as longstanding relations based on mutual interests and cooperation.
The ministers also discussed regional security challenges, including terrorism, transnational organized crime, cyber threats and hybrid warfare, emphasizing the importance of coordinated responses and closer cooperation.
A major focus of the declaration was enhancing regional connectivity through transport and energy projects. The three countries voiced support for expanding infrastructure links, developing green energy initiatives and promoting low-carbon technologies.
The declaration also underscored the strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor, a key trade route linking Asia and Europe, and reaffirmed support for the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway as a vital component of regional transport networks.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia to strengthen regional cooperation and improve economic connectivity across the South Caucasus and beyond.
