Turkish-British agreement to produce low-carbon aviation fuel using Turkish technology

Ankara , May 23(SANA) Two Turkish and British companies have signed an agreement to produce sustainable aviation fuel in Britain using Turkish technology, as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector.
The Turkish Ministry of Commerce stated in a press release on Friday, that the agreement was concluded between the British company “Firefly,” specialized in sustainable aviation fuel, and the Turkish engineering and technology company “Altaga Energy,” to supply specialized technology and equipment for facilities to be established in Britain.

Anadolu News Agency said the deal aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of science, engineering, industry, aviation and the environment.
Under the agreement, the Turkish company will undertake the design, manufacturing, and installation of facilities based on the Turkish “Catlyg” hydrothermal liquefaction technology, which converts organic waste into bio-oil.
This process represents the first and most critical stage in producing sustainable aviation fuel.
The project is expected to provide an alternative to fossil fuels and enable the local production of sustainable aviation fuel at affordable costs, insulated from the impacts of global disruptions.
