Damascus, May 9 (SANA) Syrian women showcased a wide range of handmade products, including crochet, resin art, candles, crafts and food items, at the “Supporting Small Businesses” exhibition, which opened Saturday at the Barzeh Cultural Center in Damascus.
The exhibition, organized by civil society institutions in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, brought together charitable associations and women entrepreneurs to support family income and strengthen women’s participation in economic life.
Head of the Turkmen Development Association Maher Mahmoud Agha said the exhibition highlights Syrian women’s ability to transform simple and recycled materials into marketable products, while helping promote and market handicrafts to support participating families. He added that efforts are underway to expand participation in larger events, including the Damascus International Fair.
Chairwoman of the House of Creativity Foundation Nasour Safiya said the foundation supports women through entrepreneurship, project management and skills development programs aimed at turning talents into sustainable income-generating projects.
Roua Attaya of al-Sham Association for Orphan Care said the association provides vocational and educational programs for orphans and their mothers, including sewing, hairdressing and handicrafts courses in Syria and Türkiye.
The exhibition reflects growing efforts to support women’s entrepreneurship and strengthen their economic and social role through small businesses and handicrafts.
