Damascus, March 16 (SANA) Türkiye will temporarily close all border crossings with Syria to passenger and commercial traffic during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, a Syrian border authority official said Sunday.

Mazen Alloush, director of relations at Syria’s General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, said the crossings will close at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, and remain shut throughout the holiday period on the Turkish side of the border.

Passenger and cargo movement will resume Monday morning, March 23, once the holiday closure ends, Alloush said.

He added that the move is routine and related only to administrative measures during the Eid holiday.

The authority will inform travelers and traders of any updates through official channels and remains committed to facilitating the movement of people and trade through border crossings, he said.

Separately, the authority announced Saturday that the Al-Hammam border crossing with Türkiye will be permanently closed after official working hours Tuesday, March 17.

Travelers, traders and transport companies were urged to take the decision into account when planning travel or shipping goods.
