Damascus, March 13 (SANA) – Syria’s General Authority for Land and Sea Ports said a new agreement with Jordan will allow Syrian trucks carrying Syrian-origin goods to enter Jordan directly and reach Aqaba Port for loading and unloading operations.

Director of Relations at the authority Mazen Alloush said the measure is expected to expand work opportunities for Syrian drivers and facilitate cargo transport between the two countries.

He clarified that the arrangement applies to Jordanian trucks transporting goods of Jordanian origin, while other cargo arriving through Jordan will continue to follow existing border transshipment procedures.

According to Alloush, the step aims to boost land transport, accelerate the movement of goods, reduce costs and strengthen trade between Syria and Jordan.

The agreement was reached during talks between Qutaiba Badawi, head of the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, and Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Ya’rub Qudah, and includes measures allowing Syrian trucks access to Aqaba Port while facilitating the entry of Jordanian trucks to Syrian ports.
