Istanbul, Feb. 14 (SANA) Syria’s transport minister held separate talks with his Saudi and Turkish counterparts in Istanbul on Saturday, focusing on regional rail and land transport cooperation.
Transport Minister Yarub Badr met Saudi Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu on the sidelines of the second conference of transport and communications ministers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the ministry said on its Telegram channel.
In talks with the Saudi minister, the two sides discussed strengthening cooperation in land transport and explored prospects for integrating railway and highway networks to ease the flow of goods between Europe and the Gulf region. They agreed to hold a technical meeting of Saudi transport officials next month to follow up on the discussions.
Al-Jasser also welcomed Syria’s decision to reopen its airspace to Saudi aircraft, describing the move as a positive step toward enhancing bilateral ties.
During talks with Turkish Minister Uraloğlu, Badr discussed regional transport coordination, including plans for a proposed railway link connecting Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Both sides emphasized the need to develop a clear roadmap outlining technical standards, timelines and implementation mechanisms for the project.
