Damascus, Feb. 13 (SANA) Visa has held two workshops in Syria as part of preparations for launching electronic payment services and support the banking sector’s transition to digital payments.
The Central Bank of Syria said in a statement on its Telegram channel that Visa conducted a workshop with several Syrian banks to introduce its services and outline implementation mechanisms.
A second workshop was held with the Central Bank to discuss next steps for rolling out electronic payment services. Visa said its services are expected to be launched soon in Syria, the statement added.
The initiative aligns with the Central Bank’s strategy to expand digital payments and increase the use of electronic transactions in the Syrian banking sector.
On December 4, 2025, the Central Bank announced it had reached a partnership agreement with Visa to implement a strategic roadmap aimed at accelerating Syria’s integration into the global digital economy.
