Dubai, Feb.08 (SANA) Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, chairman of the UAE-based Al Habtoor Group, said preparations for launching a major investment project in Damascus have reached an advanced stage, in coordination with the Syrian government, with plans for further projects in other areas to follow.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Sunday, Al Habtoor said the growing number of Arab and international delegations visiting Syria, along with new cooperation agreements and investment announcements, reflects renewed confidence in the country’s future and in Syrians’ ability to rebuild their nation.
He said the group has already taken a first practical step by entering the Syrian market through the automotive sector, establishing car showrooms and service centres. He added that the move aims to help create thousands of jobs and support reconstruction and economic recovery efforts.
Last Thursday, a Syrian government delegation met with Al Habtoor in Dubai to discuss prospects for economic cooperation and the launch of new investment projects in Syria.
During the meeting, Al Habtoor reaffirmed his commitment to responsible investment, stressing the importance of partnerships and investor protection to ensure sustainable development that benefits both the economy and society.
Founded in 1970, the Al Habtoor Group is one of the United Arab Emirates’ leading diversified conglomerates, operating across hospitality, real estate, automotive, education and publishing, and employing thousands of people in the UAE and abroad.
