Dubai, Feb. 3 (SANA) Syria’s Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh told a regional public finance forum in Dubai that Damascus is working to strengthen transparency and accountability in public spending as part of broader reforms to government financial management.
Barnieh was speaking during the 10th Annual Arab Fiscal Forum, held on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2026, the Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday.
During a session focused on the use of artificial intelligence in public finance, Barnieh said Syria was seeking to expand partnerships between the public and private sectors to help finance development projects and improve institutional frameworks that support such cooperation.

He also outlined measures taken by the finance ministry to reform public financial management, including steps aimed at improving oversight of public expenditure and enhancing transparency and accountability.
The forum, organized by the International Monetary Fund and the Arab Monetary Fund in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Finance, brought together Arab finance ministers, senior officials and international economists to discuss fiscal policy trends, public spending priorities and digital transformation in public finance.
