Jordan's King, Turkish President highlight support for Syria’s security

Istanbul, Feb. 7 (SANA) – Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the importance of supporting Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity during talks in Istanbul on Saturday.

The two leaders discussed enhancing trilateral cooperation between Jordan, Turkey, and Syria, particularly in the transport sector, stressing respect for every country’s sovereignty as a foundation for regional peace and stability, according to Jordanian news agency, Petra.

The meeting also addressed the situation in Gaza, with both leaders calling for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the acceleration of humanitarian aid, and the initiation of reconstruction efforts. They reaffirmed their opposition to unilateral measures against Palestinians, annexation policies, forced displacement, and any attempts to alter Jerusalem’s legal and historical status.

King Abdullah II and President Erdogan reiterated support for a just and lasting peace for the Palestinian people based on a two-state solution, leading to an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.

Erdogan also noted Turkey’s interest in expanding cooperation and expertise-sharing with Jordan as the two countries prepare to mark 80 years of diplomatic relations next year.

King Abdullah II arrived in Turkey on Saturday to meet Erdogan, discuss bilateral ties, and address regional developments with a focus on security and stability.
