Berlin, Jan. 17 (SANA) Syria and the World Food Programme (WFP) on Saturday discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the agricultural sector, strengthen food security, and implement sustainable programs that meet Syria’s current needs.
The talks took place as Syria’s Minister of Agriculture, Amjad Badr, met with Marco Cavalcante, the WFP’s Director of Programs, on the sidelines of the 2026 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin, Germany.
Minister Badr emphasized the importance of partnerships with international organizations, highlighting the role they can play in supporting national efforts to develop the agricultural sector and improve food security.
Cavalcante reviewed the program’s plans and potential working mechanisms, stressing the WFP’s readiness to expand cooperation and coordination to achieve shared goals.
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture is held annually in Berlin and brings together agriculture ministers and high-level representatives from dozens of countries and international organizations.
