Riyadh, Jan.13 (SANA) Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir met with Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh al-Kharabsheh, on the sidelines of the Fifth International Mining Conference in Saudi Arabia, as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation in the energy sector.
The Ministry of Energy said in a statement that discussions focused on boosting bilateral energy ties, sharing technical expertise and exploring joint projects across a range of energy fields.
The meeting comes after Syria’s Energy Ministry said last week that the country had begun receiving natural gas from Jordan, estimated at around 4 million cubic meters per day.
The supplies are intended to increase electricity generation and ease chronic power shortages, under an agreement between the two countries reportedly valued at $800 million.
