Riyadh, Dec. 14 (SANA) The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding for technical cooperation with the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, aimed at strengthening partnership and exchanging expertise in the civil aviation sector.
The memorandum was signed at the headquarters of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation in Riyadh. The Syrian side was represented by Omar Hosari, the head of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, while the Saudi side was represented by the authority’s president, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, in the presence of several department directors and officials from both sides.
In a statement to SANA, Hosari said the memorandum represents an important strategic step in the development of Syria’s civil aviation sector and reflects the mutual keenness of both sides to build effective partnerships based on the exchange of expertise and the enhancement of technical and institutional cooperation.
He noted that the agreement opens broad prospects for cooperation in key areas, including aviation safety, training and qualification, and the development of technical systems and procedures. Such cooperation, he said, will contribute to improving performance levels and achieving the highest standards of efficiency and reliability in civil aviation, in a manner that serves the interests of both brotherly countries.
Hosari added that the signing of the memorandum comes within the framework of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation’s vision to engage with leading regional experiences and benefit from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s advanced expertise. He stressed that the next phase will focus on translating the memorandum’s provisions into joint action programs that support the sustainable development of the civil aviation sector.
The memorandum is part of broader efforts by the Syrian authority to enhance regional and international cooperation, upgrade safety and efficiency standards, and modernize civil aviation systems and procedures in line with international standards.
