New economic map in Syria focuses on investment, development, and reconstruction

Damascus, SANA – The head of the Syrian Economists Syndicate, Muhammad Al-Bakour, stressed that the country is moving steadily towards building a new economic map, based on investment in vital sectors such as industry, energy, transportation, and tourism, with a focus on infrastructure projects and public utilities.

Strategic investments worth $14 billion

Al-Bakour said that Syria recently signed a number of major projects with international companies, most notably the development of Damascus International Airport, the construction of the Damascus Metro, and towers and commercial centers in the capital, with total investments amounting to $14 billion, which reflects investors’ confidence in the Syrian economic environment.

Distribution of investments across provinces

Al-Bakour clarified that there is an urgent need to expand the investment map to include all provinces, not just major centers, pointing out that the union possesses qualified personnel capable of supporting local projects and achieving balanced development.

The human element is at the heart of development

The head of the Economists Syndicate emphasized that investing in the human element is the true foundation of any economic renaissance. He emphasized the importance of training and qualification, in cooperation with the academic and private sectors, to ensure project sustainability and achieve quality performance.
