Damascus, SANA – The Director General of the Syrian Grain Establishment, Engineer Hassan Mohammad Al-Othman, confirmed that the establishment is working according to a dual strategy to supply wheat by supporting local production and filling the shortage through imports, in order to ensure market stability and achieve food security for citizens.
“The quantities of wheat in the silos and mills are sufficient for several months,” Al-Othman clarified in a statement to SANA reporter, indicating that the corporation is implementing a plan to supply wheat on a regular basis, to meet the country’s needs and ensure the continued availability of the material, and it is in the process of attracting new offers soon to supply about 200 thousand tons of wheat.
Regarding external support, he referred to the Iraqi grant, under which about 146 thousand tons of wheat were supplied, appreciating this fraternal initiative that contributed to supporting the national stock of the material.
