Tartous, SANA- A new ship loaded with 7,700 tons of wheat arrived Wednesday at the port of Tartous, raising the imported wheat to 143.700 tons as part of Syria’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security, General Authority for Land and Sea ports said.
Mazen Alloush, Director of Relations at the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, told SANA that the unloading process will take approximately 72 hours, bringing the total amount of imported wheat that has arrived at Syrian ports since the beginning of the year to 143,700 tons.
Alloush also affirmed the port’s readiness to receive more wheat ships in the coming days. A ship carrying 6,600 tons of wheat was unloaded at Tartus port a few days ago.
