Adra water pumping station put into service after maintenance work

Damascus, SANA- As part of the project to reuse treated water to irrigate the lands of Eastern Ghouta, Water Resources Directorate in Damascus and its countryside put the first pumping station in Adra area into service.

The station comprises six pumping stations, each with a flow rate of 1.8 cubic meters per second.

“The quantities of water pumped from Adra treatment station amount to approximately 80-100 thousand cubic meters per day which is suitable for crops such trees – cotton – pastoral crops”, Water Resources Director in Damascus and its countryside, Eng. Ahmed al-Asaad, said in a statement to journalists.

Al-Assad went on saying that directorate, with its cadres and engineering mechanisms, continued isolation and cleaning a number of Barada River branches in order to distribute water to all branches of the river.

In turn, Director of Sanitation Project at Treated Water Pumping Stations in Ghouta, Eng. Mohammad al-Ras, noted that the project of reusing treated water is considered a vital project to irrigate agricultural lands and employ workers.
