Tartous, Sept. 28 (SANA) More than 60 traditional crafts and over 60 companies from across Syria are taking part in a 10-day market in Tartous Old City as part of the “2026 Tourism Season Harvest” program.
The event brings together artisans, rural women, producers and businesses, with displays of handicrafts and locally made goods alongside a shopping market. Residents and visitors have been attending the activities in the historic quarter.
Tartous City Council President Shadi Halima told SANA on Sunday that the program was designed to highlight the events held across the province during the summer. Its name did not mean that the tourism season had ended, he said.
Halima said the handicrafts and shopping market would run for 10 days, giving residents an opportunity to buy goods at prices he described as affordable.
Ahmad Nabhan, chairman of the Leila Foundation for Organizing Exhibitions, Festivals and International Conferences, said this year’s tourism program had included activities in several parts of Tartous province.
The market places particular emphasis on traditional crafts and handmade products, he said. More than 60 crafts are represented, while over 60 companies from different Syrian provinces are participating and offering discounts of up to 30% on selected products.
Artisan Jihan al-Haj Maalla said participating craftspeople could display their products and introduce visitors to the trades and skills behind them.
Badr Shaheen, who traveled from Masyaf, said the market offered a variety of crafts, products and participating companies. He also described the prices as affordable.
The event combines displays of local craftsmanship with commercial activity and is part of a wider program highlighting Tartous province’s summer tourism and cultural events.
