Damascus, Feb. 4 (SANA) The Damascus International Book Fair, opening Thursday at the Damascus Fairgrounds in a special edition, offers a platform for intellectuals, academics, writers and artists to engage with Syrian visitors and discuss key intellectual, cultural and political issues related to Syria and the Arab world.
The Ministry of Culture announced a group of prominent guests participating in the fair, including Syrian academic Dr. Yassin Alloush; thinker and Islamic scholar Dr. Abdul Karim Bakkar; researcher and academic Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Haj; Sudanese filmmaker Amjad al-Nour; Jordanian novelist Ayman al-Atoum; Palestinian writer Adham al-Sharqawi; Syrian political activist Mohammad Khadr Wali; and Turkish academic and politician Yasin Aktay.
The fair offers visitors opportunities for direct dialogue with these figures through a series of intellectual and cultural meetings and discussions.
The Damascus International Book Fair opens under the patronage of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, under the slogan “A history we write… a history we read,” and aims to support cultural activity and promote reading following years of disruption to cultural life.
