Homs, Jan. 23 (SANA) The Palace of Culture Theater in Homs hosted an artistic evening titled “In Love and Peace” on Thursday, featuring performances by the choir of the Ghassanid Orthodox Private Schools.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East. Conducted by Maysa Abu Deeb, the choir performed a selection of traditional, patriotic, and children’s songs centered on themes of love, peace, and unity.
The concert marked the conclusion of a five-month development program that led to the formation of the choir, bringing together students with the aim of nurturing young talent and encouraging creative expression.
Bashar al-Siba’i, head of the Homs City Council, said the event reflected Syria’s message of peace and coexistence. Ghassanid Schools Director Dr. Farhan Farah highlighted the institution’s long history, dating back to 1887, and its current enrollment of about 2,600 students, noting its role in educating generations rooted in Syrian identity.
The evening also included artistic performances, a documentary showcasing the work of the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, and a personal account from a student describing his return to Homs.
Officials, religious and community figures, students, and local residents attended the event, underscoring the role of art in promoting social cohesion and shared values.
