Algerian Ambassador in Damascus: Algeria rejects interference in Syria’s internal affairs, calls for political solution

Damascus, SANA_ From the very beginning of the crisis in Syria, Algeria has adopted firm stances supporting the Syrian people and rejecting all politicized decisions which targeted Syria’s sovereignty and aimed at interfering in its internal affairs.

Algeria, the country of the million and a half martyrs, has maintained its diplomatic ties with Syria through its embassy in Damascus though many other Arab countries have adopted an opposite stance towards Syria.

In a statement to SANA marking the 62nd anniversary of the Algerian Liberation Revolution against the French Colonialism, the Algerian Ambassador in Damascus, Saleh Bosha affirmed that “Syria backed the Algerian revolution and provided
all forms of support as well as humanitarian assistance. Syria also adopted pro-Algerian state stances at international and regional forums,”

He underlined that, from the very beginning of the crisis in Syria, Algeria’s stance was firm and clear, it has backed Syria’s unity and voiced solidarity with Syrian people in their ordeal, stressing that only the Syrian people have the right to solve their internal affairs.

The Ambassador expressed his country’s rejection of any foreign interference in Syria or militarizing the conflict in it, emphasizing that Algeria calls for finding a political solution to the crisis within the framework of an inter-Syrian dialogue.

He indicated that his country was exposed to a similar crisis which aimed at destabilizing Algeria through terrorist acts, warning against the terrorism threatening the region.

Syria and Algeria are tied with deep-rooted relations of cooperation in various fields,
particularly in the political, economic and cultural domains.

President Bashar al-Assad’s historic visit to Algeria in 2002 gave a momentum for developing those relations and enhancing the joint struggle for maintaining regional security.

On the economic relations, the Ambassador stressed the importance of finding new means and mechanisms for activating the economic cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The two countries spare no efforts to increase the volume of the commercial exchange through activating the commercial agreements signed between them since 1979.
