Damascus, SANA- Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Adib Mayyaleh discussed with the Belarusian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev ways of enhancing and developing commercial, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides pointed out the importance of activating the role of the Syrian-Belarusian Business Council to enhance cooperation and coordination for paying a visit to Minsk in the near future by a delegation of Syrian businessmen and investors who are interested in cooperation with Belarus to discuss the opportunities and possible areas of cooperation, trade and investment partnerships between the two sides.
Mayyaleh stressed the need for expanding trade exchange and activating investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly with regard to the resumption of the implementation of a number of Belarusian investment projects in Syria which were previously discussed between the two sides and seeking to establish new commercial and industrial partnerships, noting the importance of encouraging the export of Syrian vegetables and fruits to Belarus, particularly citrus and apples.
In turn, Ponomarev noted the participation of Belarusian companies in the reconstruction fair in Syria which will be held at Damascus Fairgrounds from September 7th till 11th , noting the importance of finding the appropriate mechanism to provide the needed funding for the implementation of investment projects which will be agreed upon between the two sides.
Ponomarev stressed the importance of working to establish a regular line of air transport between Syria and Belarus to contribute to activating the movement of businessmen, investors and tourists between the two countries.
