Shaaban: Syrian people cannot be subjugated by the West

Damascus, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban asserted that the Syrian people cannot be subjugated by the West, and that national interest will continue to be their priority.

In a seminar on Saturday on the 16th anniversary of the passing of late President Hafez al-Assad, Shaaban said that Syrians will remain committed to the legacy of Hafez al-Assad, noting that the establishments he established during his 40 years of dedicated work for the sake of Syria and the Arab world still remain.

She said that the crisis in Syria showed that Syrians are dedicated to their homeland, and that most of the global media only seeks to placate the West, but Syrians learned to not care about the West’s evaluation and statements and to care for national interest.

Shaaban also asserted that the late Hafez al-Assad made Syria an influential state in regional and international equations.

The seminar included the screening of a documentary on the life of Hafez al-Assad, in addition to a photo gallery containing dozens of rare photos of the late President.
