Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Local Administration has started building 45 new schools, with 1200 classrooms, Head of the Planning and Development Department at the ministry Median Diyab announced.
In a statement to SANA, Diyab said that since the beginning of 2016, the Ministry has completed maintenance and rehabilitation works at about 1850 schools in different provinces, within its annual plan.
Those included 237 Basic Education schools with 3044 classrooms, 29 Secondary schools with 326 classrooms, 6 vocational education schools and 5 school clinics.
In 2015, the Ministry of Local Administration carried out maintenance works for 939 schools, rehabilitated 4 schools with 303 classrooms and built 50 schools with 570 classrooms for Basic Education stage and 14 schools with 134 classrooms for Secondary stage, in addition to rehabilitating 5 health centers in Tartous, Homs and Lattakia.
