Iranian Parliament official: Tehran’s support to Damascus will continue until achieving final victory

Damascus, SANA – Chairman of the Council and Internal Affairs Committee of the Iranian Shura Counci Amir Khojasteh reaffirmed that Iran will continue providing all forms of support to Syria until it defeats the forces of terrorism and achieves final victory.

His reaffirmation came during a meeting with Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Damascus on Sunday.

Khojasteh praised the succeeding achievements the Syrian army has been recently making in the course of its war against terrorism, referring in particular to the army’s retaking of Palmyra.

This “historic” achievement will have reflections on the ground, said Khojasteh.

He expressed confidence that Syria is heading closer to victory, stressing that Iran has started preparing schedules for the reconstruction process in Syria.

Al-Laham, for his part, made it clear that the army’s recent achievements have undermined ISIS capabilities and are opening the door wide towards clearing the entire Syrian territory of the terrorists.

He expressed Syria’s appreciation of the continued assistance provided by the leadership and people of Iran to their counterparts in Syria, including political, economic and military support.

 

Afterwards, members of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed with the Iranian delegation accompanying Khojasteh the bilateral parliamentarian relations and means to develop them and enhance coordination at the international forums.

Later, Khojasteh met with Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi, and two sides discussed the prospects of cooperation in all fields and the role which the Iranian companies could play in the reconstruction process through starting investment projects in Syria, in addition to the rehabilitation of some terrorism-hit sectors.
