More than 200 UNRWA staff killed in Gaza

Cairo, SANA, The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that nearly 200 of the UNRWA agency’s staff have been killed since the start of the Israeli aggression in Gaza strip.

Lazzarini’s remarks came during a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Bard Abdel Ati in Cairo on Monday.

About 50 percent of the agency’s buildings were destroyed and over 500 persons were killed while they were in its headquarters, Lazzarini said.

There is a danger that an entire generation will be deprived of education after most of the schools have been destroyed, the UN official said.

250,000 people have been displaced from Khan Yunis and this is not the first time that residents have been forced to flee, which means that there is no safe place in Gaza, he added.
