Social Affairs Ministry launches labor market information platform

Damascus, SANA- Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, launched on Monday the labor market information platform to support job seekers and help employers access the appropriate skills to fill vacant jobs.

The platform, which was launched during an official workshop, aims to provide a knowledge base about the labor market, its basic indicators, status, and trends, and to facilitate skills development, training, qualification, and rehabilitation for job seekers.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Louay Al-Munajjid, considered the platform an important and strategic station with regard to labor market policies, and linking them to the outcomes of higher education, with the aim of providing information to decision-makers in drawing up these policies, and providing a carrier for collecting data about the demands of workers in the labor market.

Representative of the United Nations Development Program, Sudipto Mukerjee, in turn, described the launch of the platform as an important achievement and a collective project that resulted from joint efforts of government and private agencies, which constituted a milestone in securing jobs to help employers obtain available skills on the one hand, and help job seekers on the other one.
