Al-Moallem to UNRWA Commissioner General: Terrorism doesn’t distinguish between Syrians and Palestinians

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Monday met Commissioner General for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Pierre Krähenbühl.

Al-Moallem discussed with Krähenbühl and the accompanying delegation the longstanding cooperation and coordination between the UNRWA and the Syrian government, with the Minister stressing that Syria has maintained its support for the Palestinian people despite the conspiracy that has been targeting it for four years.

Al-Moallem said that the crimes committed by terrorism with the backing of the West and some regional and Arab countries don’t discriminate between Syrians and their Palestinian brethren who had been living in Syria for a long time.

For his part, Krähenbühl expressed appreciation for the Syrian government’s continuing support for the UNRWA and the Palestinian refugees in Syria, saying that the Agency wishes to bolster the good relations and the mutual trust between it and the Syrian government.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad, Advisor to the Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ahmad Arnous, and head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department at the Ministry Ghassan Obeid.
