Damascus, SANA – Tourism Minister Bishr Yazigi and South African Ambassador Shaun Byneveldt discussed cooperation between the two countries, benefiting from expertise in tourism planning, training, and media, and realizing the memo of understanding signed by the two sides in 2006.
Minister Yazigi briefed the Ambassador on the state of the tourism sector in Syria and the damage caused to it by terrorism, lauding the South African government’s position regarding the crisis in Syria and its support for the Syrian people.
He also said that South African companies will be given priority in participating in the reconstruction process and tourism and economic projects.
In turn, Byneveldt said that South Africa wants to develop economic relations and strengthen the friendship between the two countries, noting that Syria has significant tourism potential due to its rich history and cultural heritage.
