Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday granted Cuban Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador in Damascus, Miguel Porto Parga, the Syrian Order of Merit of Excellent degree, in appreciation of his efforts exerted to develop and enhance bilateral relations.
“President al-Assad issued a decree on granting this order to Parga in appreciation of the his great endeavors to enhance the relations binding the two countries.” said Ayman Susan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates who awarded the merit to Parga during a farewell party held by the Ministry at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus on Wednesday on occasion of the end of his duties in Damascus.
Susan voiced appreciation for the vital role played by the Cuban ambassador in light of the difficult circumstances Syria has gone through.
He added the Syrian-Cuban relations are deeply- rooted especially in light of the ups and downs the world is witnessing, affirming that the two countries are always on one side.
After being awarded the order, Ambassador Parga expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to President Al-Assad for granting him such award, considering it as an incentive to continue working to strengthen bilateral relations, extending his thanks to the Syrian government and people.
“Both countries are working to upgrade economic and trade relations to the same level as the political one “, said Parga , adding that Cuba has supported and will always support the right of the Syrian people to their freedom, independence, sovereignty and the restoration of their occupied lands.
