New York, SANA- Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, stressed that the stability of Syria is an essential pillar of Arab security, stressing her country’s rejection of any external interference in Syria’s internal affairs.
Nusseibeh said in a speech during a session of the UN Security Council on Thursday, published by the UAE mission on its website, “We stress the importance of boosting cooperation between the Security Council and the Arab League to find Arab solutions to Arab crises, including the crisis in Syria, as the stability of Syria is an essential pillar of Arab security.”
Nusseibeh added, “In the context of our call to strengthen the Arab role within the efforts to end the crisis in Syria, we renew our rejection of foreign interference in it,” stressing “the need to respect its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
Nusseibeh added that “The UAE believes that there is an urgent need to find tangible and effective solutions to end the crisis in Syria by adopting a practical and logical approach. Within the framework of our general tendency to find diplomatic solutions to crises and our call for the importance of an effective Arab role in discussing ways to solve the crisis in Syria instead of being satisfied with managing it, President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to my country came within the framework of this approach.”
