Damascus, SANA- Syria has renewed its call on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities within the framework of the United Nations Charter and to oblige the Israeli occupation entity to respect its decisions related to the Separation of Forces Agreement and to hold all parties that support terrorism and launch attacks on Syrian sovereignty accountable.
In a letter sent by the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council regarding the Israeli aggression on Syrian territory on Tuesday, the Ministry said: At 23.36 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, the Israeli occupation authorities launched a new act of aggression on the territories of the Syrian Arab Republic, by launching successive waves of missiles from the direction of Lebanese territory, targeting the central and southern regions.
The Ministry added: The treacherous Israeli aggression coincides with the continuation of armed terrorist groups to commit cowardly terrorist acts against the Syrian people in some areas, and this aggression also comes within the framework of the systematic propaganda campaign led by the United States of America and some Western countries which are subordinate to it at such a time of every year to extend the effects of Security Council Resolution 2165 on the illegal Cross-Border Assistance Mechanism under false and flimsy allegations claiming their concern for the humanitarian situation in Syria.
The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry went on saying : Syria affirms once again that the continued faltering terrorist practices of the Israeli occupation authorities against Syria and some countries and peoples of the region, which they have increased their brutality and criminality, especially in their recent war in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to their threats that are widely heard against the countries of the region lately, would not have been possible without the American and Western care and protection for them, and finding illegal or immoral justifications for them that encourage them to continue their aggression and arrogance, which may lead to consequences which those countries will bear international responsibility for their repercussions, knowing that Syria is certain that these countries and their peoples know the truth that “Israel” “ is a rogue entity against international legitimacy and it poses a threat to international peace and security, and its danger is no less than the threat posed by the terrorist organizations of Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra.
The Ministry added: The Syrian Arab Republic affirms that the repeated Israeli attacks on its lands have not and will not succeed in making it abandon its principles or dissuading it from restoring the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of June 4, 1967 in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions, just as they have not and will not succeed in undermining the will of its people to realize their hopes and aspirations on rebuilding their country, which “Israel” and some countries and their agents have tried to destroy, and they have not and will not succeed in distracting the Syrian Arab Army from its continuation in the fight against Takfiri terrorism, which those countries have exacerbated its impact on the Syrian people by imposing unjust and illegal unilateral coercive measures on them, and they haven’t not and will not succeed in dissuading Syria from exercising its right to defend its land, people and sovereignty by all means guaranteed by the United Nations Charter and the provisions of the international law.
The ministry indicated that Syria has repeatedly called on the Security Council to condemn the repeated Israeli attacks on the sovereignty and integrity of its territories and to take immediate and decisive measures to suppress these attacks and hold Israel accountable for them, and based on the belief of the Syrian Arab Republic as a founding member of the United Nations in the role of international legitimacy, it continues to demand the Security Council to bear its responsibilities within the framework of the United Nations Charter, the most important of which is to maintain international peace and security, and to obligate Israel to respect its resolutions related to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement and to hold all parties that support terrorism and launch attacks against Syrian sovereignty accountable for their terrorism and crimes against the Syrian people, all of which constitute flagrant violations of the of the United Nations Charter, and the provisions of international law and Security Council resolutions No. 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all international resolutions and instruments related to combating terrorism.
