Military source: Human error caused the explosions at ammunition depot in Homs

Homs, SANA_ A military source announced that the explosions that took place in the city of Homs were due to human error.

“At 9:25 am on Friday, May 1, 2020, successive explosions were heard at a military position in the city of Homs, and investigations revealed that these explosions occurred due to human error during the transportation of some ammunition”, the source said.

He added that the explosions caused material and human losses due the shrapnel which scattered outside the military position.

Earlier, several explosions were heard in the south of the city of Homs where columns of smoke were seen rising from the site as shells fell in the vicinity of it, causing injuries to several civilians.

Governor of Homs, Talal Al-Barazi, had indicated in telephone call with the Syrian channel that preliminary information about the explosions indicates that they took place at one of the military sites in the southeastern outskirts of the city, and that investigations are ongoing to confirm the nature of these explosions.

Director of Homs Health Directorate Dr. Hassan Al-Jundi told SANA reporter that 10 injured persons had arrived to the public and private hospitals in the city due to the shells falling due to the explosion.

The injured persons were given the necessary aid.
