Germany rejects US call for sending ground troops to Syria

Berlin, SANA- Germany has rejected a call by the US to send ground troops  in framework of the US-led illegitimate “coalition” which had been formed outside the Security Council under the pretext of fighting Daesh “ISIS” terrorist organization in Syria.

German media outlets on Sunday revealed that US Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey had asked the German government to provide ground troops to participate in the showy “coalition” which is led by the US.

German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said that Germany doesn’t intend to send ground troops to Syria in framework of the US-led “coalition”, adding that his country will maintain its current  contribution.

“When I say the government envisages sticking to the current measures in the US-led coalition, this includes no ground troops, as is well known,”  Seibert added.

He noted that Berlin has  provided reconnaissance jets, a refueling aircraft and other non-combat military assistance to the “coalition”.

Since August 2014, the US has been leading a showy illegitimate “coalition” outside the International Security Council under the flimsy pretext of fighting Daesh “ISIS” terrorist organization.

The “coalition” has committed tens of massacres against innocent civilians in Syria and Iraq and it has worked on destroying the infrastructure and the vital facilities such as the bridges, power plants and others.

In the year 2015, the German Government agreed on the participation of the German military in the alleged “coalition” against Daesh in Syria and Iraq which had been formed outside the framework of the UN and without a request or acceptance of the Syrian Government in a stark violation of the Syrian sovereignty .
