Geneva, SANA – Ambassador Hussam Eddin Ala, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, renewed Syria’s complete solidarity with Venezuela’s people and its legitimate government, showing support to any initiative for dialogue that respects the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
During the statement of the 41st session of the human rights with its second article discussing High Commissioner’s report of the situation of the human rights in Venezuela, Ambassador Ala highlighted Syria’s principled stance that rejects selectiveness, double standards and politicization in the work of the Human Rights Council and the attempts to use it as a tool for violating sovereignty of states.
He condemned threats of using military force against Venezuela and imposing unilateral coercive measures, which led to the deterioration of basic services along with the sabotage exercises.
Ala stressed that policies of changing regimes through sabotage for destabilizing the situation of the targeted states along with the coercive measures are essential factors for the emergence of humanitarian crises and the deterioration of the living and economic standards.
The Ambassador pointed out to the Venezuelan people’s right to determine their political and economic regimes without foreign interference, voicing cooperation of the Venezuelan government’s cooperation with the High Commissioner.
