Sochi, SANA – Preparatory meetings for holding the 9th session of the Russian-Syrian Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation kicked off in the Russian city of Sochi.
Minister of Finance Ismael Ismael chaired the Syrian side while Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin headed the Russian side, with the participation of Syrian and Russian ministers and officials, including Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riyad Haddad and Russian Ambassador to Syria Azmatullah Mohammadov.
A joint workshop was organized to discuss the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation and set up drafts for future agreements in trade exchange and cooperation in several sectors such as transport, tourism, customs facilitations, and finance, with the aim of promoting Syria’s agricultural and industrial exports in Russian markets on the basis of mutual benefits without harming the interest of Syrian customers.
In a statement to SANA’s reporter in Moscow, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan said that the meetings of the Syrian-Russian Committee contribute to further enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries to match the level of the political and strategic ties.
He noted that Syria and Russia are united in their efforts to achieve justice in international relations and establish a multi-polar world in the face of domination and arrogance policies.
Sousan highlighted Syria’s policy that is based on international legitimacy and law, equality among states, and respect of states’ national sovereignty.
