Russian General Staff: Terrorists preparing for use of Chemical weapons in Ghouta to accuse Syrian army and justify US attack against Syria

Moscow, SANA – Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov reiterated that terrorists are preparing a provocation through the use of chemical weapons against civilians to accuse the Syrian Arab Army and justify a new US attack against Syria.

During a meeting of the Russian military staff in Moscow on Tuesday, Gerasimov said that Russia has reliable information that militants are preparing to falsify a chemical attack against civilians to accuse the Syrian Arab Army, noting that the US is planning to accuse the Syrian forces of that.

There is notable activity in eastern Ghouta by the so-called “White Helmets” and film crews had already arrived at the scene with satellite video transmitters which are ready in place, the Russian Officer said.

He added that the terrorists’ preparations for the process of using chemical weapons have been confirmed after the discovery of a workshop for producing chemical weapons in the village of Aftris, which was liberated from terrorists by the Syrian Arab Army on Monday.

“We have reliable information that the US is planning after this provocation to accuse the Syrian Arab Army of using chemical weapons and to provide what it claims as evidence on the collective killing of civilians at the hands of the Syrian government and the Russian leadership which supports it,” the Russian officer said, asserting that the US plans to carry out a missile strike on governmental positions in Damascus as a “response.”

Russia will respond if the lives of Russian servicemen in Syria are threatened and the Russian armed forces will respond against the missiles and those who use them, the Russian General Staff said.
