Syrian Family Planning Association launches 16-day campaign against VAW

Damascus, Syria – Syrian Family Planning Association launched its first activities in a 16-day campaign against violence against women (VAW) under the title “Don’t leave anyone behind, stop violence against women and girls” at the Association’s center in Bab Musalla in Damascus city.

The event focused on the importance of educating and empowering women as part of the social development process, in addition to presenting a theatrical show about the dangers of child marriage and the importance of women’s participation decision-making.

Director of the association’s clinics Akram Maatouk told SANA’s reporter that the activities of the event target varied age groups and places, adding that 70 clinics across Syria offer consultations and different medical services in coordination with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
