Damascus, SANA – Chargé d’affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus Riad al-Tai said that Iraq and Syria are facing a common enemy represented by ISIS terrorist organization.
In a statement delivered on behalf of the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari at a press conference held at the Embassy, al-Tai pointed out that the liberation of the city of Mosul from ISIS terrorists coincided with the victories of the Syrian Arab Army over this common enemy.
He noted to the increased cooperation and coordination between the Iraqi and Syrian governments through the Coordination Office that includes Iraq, Syria, Russia and Iran, which plays an active and important role in confronting terrorism.
Al-Tai expressed hope that the trade relations between Iraq and Syria will return to normal in the near future to realize the common interests of the two countries, stressing that the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army over ISIS in al-Badia (desert) will contribute to the reopening of the land roads between the two countries.
On the 10th of July, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of the city of al-Mosul completely of ISIS terrorists.
