Damascus, SANA – Higher Education Minister Atef Naddaf discussed on Thursday with Chinese Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjin means to enhance and develop joint scientific and cultural cooperation.
The Minister affirmed the need to increase the number of scholarships for the Syrian students in the next academic year and to send students from the National Commission for the Syrian Science Olympiad to continue their post-graduate studies at Chinese universities.
Naddaf referred to the strong social and cultural ties binding Syria and China in various domains, particularly under the current circumstances in Syria, affirming the need to upgrade the scientific and cultural relations between the two countries.
In turn, the Ambassador expressed his country’s keenness to boost these relations, which he said have recently witnessed a remarkable development in terms of the number of scholarships and exchange of students between the two countries.
He affirmed that China will continue to play a positive role in supporting the political process in Syria and protecting the Syrian people, lauding Syria’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and the process of rebuilding what was destroyed due to terrorism.
