Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Public Works and Housing, in coordination with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), discussed at the workshop on Tuesday preparing “The Report of Housing Situation” in Syria.
Deputy minister of Public Works and Housing Marie Claire al-Tali said that’’ the workshop aims at determining the situation of the population in Syria and discussing the preparation of a comprehensive national report, which will be the first reference in developing a national housing strategy, based on accurate data, scientific analysis, and a realistic vision, to respond to the challenges and aspirations of Syrians.
She added that ‘’the workshop also aims to ensure the return of the displaced Syrians to their areas in a dignified and safe way, in addition to deal with the challenges of the reconstruction process and housing policies.
Deputy Director of the “Habitat” program in Syria, Felicity Cain, pointed out the” importance of teamwork and cooperation to complete the housing situation report in Syria, in a way that serves building the housing strategy during the next stage, especially since the program is working for a better and sustainable urban future’’.
