Petroleum pipeline between Homs and Hama recommissioned after 14-Year Hiatus

Homs, SANA- Homs branch of the Petroleum Company resumed operations Tuesday on a 6-inch pipeline transporting petroleum products from storage facilities in Homs to those in Hama, with a daily capacity of 2,600 cubic meters.

Eng. Yahya al-Taleb, Director of the Homs branch, stated ‘’that restarting the pipeline after a 14-year suspension will enhance flexibility in managing supply crises, ensure the availability and distribution of petroleum products, and reduce transportation costs previously incurred by tanker trucks’’.

Al-Taleb added that’’ reactivating the pipeline plays a vital strategic role in sustaining the flow of petroleum products—initially between Homs and Hama, and subsequently to storage facilities in Aleppo and Idlib. This expansion will increase storage capacity by bringing new facilities online in these provinces.

He emphasized that’’ this achievement marks a key step in reviving the country’s deteriorated economic infrastructure inherited from the previous regime’’.

Meanwhile, Eng. Mohammad Amin al-Daher, Head of the Pumping Stations Division, noted that ‘’the company’s technical teams completed intensive maintenance work over two weeks with high precision and performance.

The 56-kilometer pipeline between Homs and Hama underwent repairs including pipes, valves, pumping units, and mechanical seals. The full pipeline network connecting Homs, Aleppo, and Idlib spans 180 kilometers.
