Damascus, SANA- UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura arrived to Damascus on Friday.

De Mistura is to hold a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem to discuss the preparations for the meeting scheduled on January 25th.

Earlier on Thursday, Spokesman for the UN Farhan Haq said De Mistura will also visit Iran and meet Iranian officials to discuss the forthcoming meeting.

On 18th of December, the UN Security Council adopted resolution No.2254, calling for launching a political process to solve the crisis in Syria by the Syrians themselves.
