Al-Jaafari: terrorist organizations, QSD perpetrate violations and crimes against children in Syria

New York, SANA- Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, affirmed on Friday that the terrorist organizations and QSD militia , supported by the US occupation, continue to commit crimes and violations against children in Syria, including killing, kidnapping, recruitment and transporting children to conflict areas in countries of the region in addition to burning and destructing schools and hospitals and preventing children from going to schools.

Al-Jaafari, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said during an informal session of the UN Security Council via video conference held at the initiative of Russia and Kazakhstan on “Children in Armed Conflict,” that the Syrian state, despite the huge pressures, exerts tremendous efforts to protect and care about the children who are found in the areas that have been liberated from terrorism or who reached to the State institutions.

Al-Jaafari added that terrorism is considered as one of the most dangerous scourges that affect countries and communities, and when it prevails, the first affected ones will be the children.

He affirmed that the most complicated image of the impacts of terrorism is in recruiting children for fighting and engaging  them in terrorist acts, saying that the amphitheater of ancient city of Palmyra was witness on these acts where a number of the recruited children at Daesh beheaded 25 Syrian soldiers in front of the organization’s cameras which were posted on the web.

Al-Jaafari reiterated that Syria condemns and absolutely refuses the step by Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict who signed the so-called “Work plan” in June 2019 with the US-occupation backed armed separatist QSD militia in northeastern Syria.

He added that signing the plan affirms the biased stance regarding the situation in Syria.

Al-Jaafari pointed out to the death of a number of children in al-Hawl camp in Hasaka while trying to smuggling them inside a water tank.
