Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes European sanctions on the heads of the remnants of the defunct regime

Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic has welcomed the European Union’s decision to impose sanctions on a number of leaders of the remnants of the defunct regime, namely:

Suhail al-Hassan, Ghiyath Dallah, Miqdad Fathiyeh, Mudallal Khoury and Imad Khoury, for their involvement in committing grave crimes against Syrian citizens, their direct contribution to fueling sectarian strife through their repeated assaults on security personnel and civilians, and their continuous attempts to destabilize the coastal areas.

In a press statement on Monday, the ministry stressed that this decision reflects a growing realization by the European Union and the international community of the scale of the violations committed by these figures and their pivotal role in fueling the unfortunate events on the coast.

The ministry noted that the committee tasked by the Presidency of the Republic to investigate these events has almost completed its work in preparation for submitting the results of the investigations and holding those responsible accountable to the Presidency of the Republic.

The ministry said: The Syrian government reiterates its commitment to prosecute all those involved in these crimes, wherever they may be, inside or outside the country, to ensure that they are brought to justice and that the victims receive justice.
