Damascus, March 30 (SANA) – Syria’s Local Administration and Environment Minister Mohammad Anjarani discussed cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) during a meeting in Damascus with Abdallah al-Dardari, the U.N. assistant secretary-general and UNDP regional director for Arab states.
The talks focused on supporting local development in municipalities, improving solid waste management, and efforts aimed at ending the displacement camp system in Syria by the end of 2026.
In a statement to SANA, Anjarani said the partnership with UNDP represents an important step in strengthening local administration and environmental programs across Syria.
He added that the ministry is working with international partners to develop projects eligible for global climate and environmental financing, including programs linked to the Green Climate Fund.
For his part, al-Dardari expressed the organization’s readiness to provide technical support in preparing development projects and to assist efforts aimed at improving services in areas where displaced families are returning.
The UNDP is the United Nations’ global development network and operates in around 170 countries, supporting programs aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
