Aoun: The return of the displaced and the stability of Syria serve Lebanon's interests

Beirut, SANA- Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun stressed that Syria’s stability directly benefits Lebanon, calling for the need to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians to their country in a safe, dignified, and coordinated manner.

This came during his meeting in Beirut with a European delegation headed by the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra de Waal, with the participation of a number of ambassadors from EU member states, according to the National News Agency (NNA).

During the meeting, President Aoun reviewed Lebanon’s efforts to host Syrian refugees over the past years, noting that with the improvement of conditions in some Syrian regions, it has become just and necessary to work to facilitate the coordinated return of refugees, in line with the required shift in international support.

In a related context about the security situation, Aoun pointed out that there is a high level of cooperation between Lebanon and Syria in controlling the common borders, which contributes to enhancing the security stability of the two countries.
