Barak: US supports Syrians' aspirations for a better future

Ankara,SANA – US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barack expressed his country’s strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted the Mar Elias Church in the Duwaila, stressing that this cowardly act will not undermine the pluralistic Syrian identity or the unity of Syrians.

In a post today on the ‘X’ platform on Tuesday, Barak stressed that this criminal attack does not target a specific sect, but affects all Syrians, reaffirming the United States’ support for the Syrian people of all sects as they seek to build a future of openness, stability, and tolerance.

The US envoy also expressed his hope that Syria and its people will enjoy security and peace, adding that “yesterday evening, on behalf of the US President and Secretary of State, he held a phone call with Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X, during which he expressed sincere condolences to the victims and their families, and to all those affected by this tragic event”.
